Just a quick note to introduce you to Abigail of Abigails World from the UK!

Abigail arrived in this mad world at the end of January 2015 and has already started to clock up the miles traveling across Europe and around the UK with her parents.

Her Dad, David Francis primarily writes the blog and shares the experience of the facilities and amenities that are baby friendly. Or not! It’s great information.

I loved the post about the experience at Legoland, as my family are huge LEGO heads and we have always had a great experience at the parks.

Please visit the blog, Abigails World and follow along on this beautiful tot’s life adventures and learn along the way where you and your family might have a great stay versus a bad one!

Microdermabrasion: The Benefits And How It Works

There are numerous benefits to microdermabrasion and this article looks at what it is and how it works – read on and get an idea if it could help you.

Microdermabrasion Benefits

When it comes to improving the look and feel of skin, microdermabrasion delivers stunning result, but does depend on the aesthetician’s skill. To get the best results, book your appointment with someone who comes highly recommended.

It takes time to get great results, so plan on undergoing treatments in series. The number required will depend upon the condition of your skin and your skin type. Typically, treatment plans include six treatments scheduled two weeks apart.

The machine used for microdermabrasion can be fine-tuned, which means that having sensitive skin isn’t a problem. When it comes to this procedure, more is not necessarily better. Doctors with large practices might have bigger machines, but they are absolutely necessary.

Now let’s look at what is microdermabrasion

Typical pricing for a single treatment runs from $100 to $150. Some spas offer a special: With five treatments, you can often get the sixth one for free. There is no recovery period required after your treatment which typically take a half of an hour from start to finish. It’s easy to pop out from work, get your “lunchtime peel,” and then immediately resume your day.

On a cautionary note, it’s important to remember that the skin’s outer layer has one main job: To protect your underlying skin. That’s why you’ll want to stay out of the sun for a while. Vigorous exercise shortly after the procedure is not recommended. Even when the weather is cloudy, be prepared to put on a gentle sunscreen for further protection.

Home microdermabrasion kits work more like a skin scrub, so you shouldn’t expect to get the same results as you would from a professional. With these kits, it’s easy to irritate your skin if you overdo it.

How Microdermabrasion Is Done

The microdermabrasion machine uses a compressor to draw air in through the attached wand. A vacuum is created when the wand makes skin contact. Corundum crystals (aluminum oxide) are second in hardness only to diamonds. These crystals literally pick up dead skin cells as they are blasted across the surface of the skin. Finally, both crystals and dead skin are pulled up and away through a separate tube within the wand to be disposed of.

The aesthetician determines how deep the exfoliation should be. To control this aspect, both the crystal flow and the vacuum strength can be adjusted. Most of the time, only two passes are needed. However, an additional one may be used when scars or brown spots are treated.

The process of microdermabrasion with crystals is not painful, but it can be uncomfortable. Sensitive tissue of the nose or mouth regions might present a problem. Throughout the entire treatment, your aesthetician will monitor your pain levels. Be sure to tell her if you experience pain during the procedure.

After the treatment, your face will appear to be red. This is because trace amounts of the crystal will be left behind and change the appearance of your face tone. To prevent damage to your eyes during the process, they should be shielded.

Diamond-tip microdermabrasion is similar to the crystal method in some ways. The hand-held wand uses a vacuum. However, there are no crystals moving through the want and removing dead skin cells. Instead, the tip itself does the exfoliation while the vacuum pulls the skin cells away once they are removed. Tips come with different roughness grades and the best one for your skin type will be chosen.

Many people find that the diamond-tip tool is more comfortable than the crystal method. Both achieve similar results. In general, for people with sensitive skin, the diamond-tip tool is the tool of choice.
