7 Worst Powders Ever

Our readers say these powders make them look cakey, orange, or even worse — break out

7 Worst Powders Ever

This is a TotalBeauty.com face makeup article

Powder is one beauty product you can’t live without. It banishes your oily t-zone, covers up your blemishes, and gives you poreless perfection — if you’re using a good powder that is. Readers say these seven powders do none of the above. Check out this list before falling prey to another disappointing product.

TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 6.9

“This does nothing to improve your complexion. It has no coverage.”

NO. 5: COVERGIRL TRUBLEND MINERALS LOOSE POWDER, $7.79

Hello Gorgeous!

Oh-it’s that time alright. It’s already pre-holiday season retail according to my local Costco due to the fact that there are halloween costumes on one side of the aisle and Christmas wrapping paper on the other.

So to keep in step, here is your first fragrance holiday round up series!

Beyonce Midnight Heat is another winner in her line of perfumes, and it’s available at mass retailers everywhere and sells in price ranging from $33 to $59 depending on where you buy and what size.

Halle Berry has a new scent in Closer which sells for about $35, and is available as of September 2012. Perfumer Jacques Cavallier combined unusual contrasts of sensual and feminine notes and classical masculine fougere accords in this composition. The result is a modern feminine floral – woody – fougere fragrance. It opens with accords of ozone, wild raspberry and water lily. The heart includes mimosa, the actress’ favorite flower, along with violet, cedar and fougere accord. Vanilla pod, mahogany, cashmere and musk in the base form a lingering trail. (fragrance notes from www.fragrantica.com)

Playboy VIP-another scent in the Playboy line of fragrances-it definitely is a younger scent and would appeal to a college demographic.
It opens with accords of nectarines and peony, with apple, red fruits and vanilla flower in the heart and the base made of cashmere, sandalwood and musk (fragrance notes from www.fragrantica.com) It sells in the $20 range.

Now the Krigler OUD for Highness 75 can be purchased online or at The Plaza in New York. A 3.4 oz bottle is $505.00. Custom Made fragrance created in 1975. Joining again the collection in 2010. Oud For Highness 75 has been created in honor of its Royal Highness of Jordan combining Crushed Royal Asian Oud, Amber, Sandalwood, Saffron and Honey.

Combining cultures and traditions, this fragrance is a Royal testimony to Oud. (notes information from www.krigler.com)

So get busy saving for your holiday splurges so you can be a savvy shopper and save money, not use credit and incur fees and have a fun family time without the pressure of bills calling!

I Tried a One-Day Detox -- Would You?

This is a TotalBeauty.com diet article

Our bodies are exposed to toxins every day thanks to the polluted air we breathe, the hormone-injected foods we eat, and even the chemical-filled products we slather on our bodies. So it’s logical that we should periodically cleanse our bodies from the inside out. But the question is: Which detox diet is right for you? We followed one editor as she tried a one-day plan. Read about her experience here.

Well, here’s to the week in review:
Starting with a wee pic of Casey and I at the Arizona Bridal Affair last weekend. Wow, I can hardly believe that was last weekend because this week went by in the blink of an eye!
The Arizona Bridal Affair show was action packed with lots of brides getting ready for their weddings and with grooms in tow to the groom room the event just kept an even pace of busy!

Today the beauty bubble is amazing and I love purple eyeshadow too! Now in Arizona the month of October becomes very busy for social engagements and activities because of the great weather. We are currently in a heat snap…yes, Arizona is having an unseasonably hot start to Fall though I am so looking forward to all that is ahead.

In October, both blogs, this one and the http://cherelynn.com/ will be featuring new products, more how to videos teaching makeup lessons for the everyday lady, and some interviews with beauty product inventors!

Stay tuned and come back often. Remember to comment and subscribe because I love hearing from you!

Pound the pavement with the right base. Begin your beauty regime with a primer that fills in fine lines and pores for a flawless finish! Give Smashbox’s Photo Finish Foundation Primer a try. It helps to inhibit the destruction of collagen so you can look flawless for years to come at your corner office.

Sleepless night from nerves? Cover up those under-eye bags, puffiness, or any other perfections with Tarte’s Dark Circle Defense. The finely milled light refracting minerals actually brighten skin to help camouflage dark circles, puffiness, refness, fine lines and wrinkles. And there’s 56% reduction in eye puffiness after 4 weeks–but we know you’ll nail that interview the first go-round!

Sparkle and glitter aren’t office appropriate. Opt for a matte shadow in a natural hue on the lids. We love Revlon’s ColorStay 12 Hour Eye Shadow in In The Buff. Better yet, go for a thin line of smudged pencil eyeliner. Sue Devitt’s Eye Intensifier Pencil is great. Nylon and a number of other ingredients lock in moisture and expand and contract with facial movements without creasing to create a long-lasting, luminious eye.

Stop fussing with and reapplying your makeup! Ditch the trips to the ladies’ and mist on a product that holds concealer, foundation and eyeshadow in place for up to 16 hours. Skindinavia Makeup Finishes creates a flawless look so there’s less touch ups throughout the day. Since it resists heat and humidity, the mist is also great for when that mid-interview perspiration occurs!

OTHER TIPS:

•For your face, you probably won’t need much more than concealer and loose powder. If you have blemishes or uneven skin tone, by all means, use a foundation! But if you don’t need much coverage, just skip it.
•Wear lipstick, not lip gloss. Gloss is too shiny and youthful for a formal occasion like an interview.
•Well-groomed brows show that you pay attention to details. Tweeze any stray hairs, and if you have brow gel, use it to set your brows in place. (A tiny bit of hair gel, diluted with water, can do the same thing.)
•Applying a little bit of blush makes everyone look healthier. Use this rather than bronzer for a natural-looking, healthy glow.
•Don’t wear any perfume. “Oh, but I love my signature scent,” you might be saying. Yes, and it probably smells lovely, but what if your interviewer has an allergy? Skip it.
•Unless you have naturally clean, even, hangnail-free nails, get a manicure. It doesn’t matter whether your nails are long or short, but they should be neatly filed. Don’t opt for a French manicure — many find it dated.

I went camping over the weekend and though I packed my facial cleansing cloths to remove my makeup as I roughed it out in the elements, I still got a pimple. Darn it!

So I have started to use it, and it has a light scent, not overpowering and didn’t sting when I applied. The best thing about this acne/pimple product is that it is using 5% salycilic acid to treat the blemish instead of the harsher benzoyl peroxide.

Either way-I expect this unwanted guest to be gone by morning! Enjoy the videos, and remember to subscribe to get your chance at product giveaways!
