I myself, am a plucker with the sheer joy of the pin like point of my Tweezerman tweezers!
I’ve never had a wax and don’t plan to. I am curious about threading and have seen it done over and over and marvel at the speed and agility of the Pakistani/Indian ladies doing it! I don’t really have that much of an eyebrow to begin with, so I steer clear of anyone else doing the shaping.
I have had them professionaly shaped once and felt like she trimmed the brows to short making the sparse hairs look; well, more sparse.

Mine:
1. Benefit Cosmetics Benetint stain. It’s great for lips and cheek color, lasts all day and I’ve never had one open or spill while rolling around in my very large purse.

2. Mascara: whichever brand I am using that day, which usually is something from the L’Oreal family of mascaras. When I apply my mascara I rub the wand onto the eyelid along the lash line to make smear, then I blend it with a wee brush so it looks like a bit of liner and is smudgy. Just the way I like it!

Personally, I am a big fan of the Village Tea Co. flavor “cherry me bloom rooibos with acai” especially since you can get it in a wee portable tin to take on set!

Alas, it isn’t hot tea sipping weather any longer in the greater Phoenix area: we are back to the heat vs. last week’s tornado warnings. Below are some celebrity quotes of who is enjoying what! If you are in a warm area like me, do an iced tea!
###

Melinda McGraw shined at the premiere party for her new film Skateland at The 2010 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. The Mad Men star has been drinking Village Tea Company’s “Gentle Organic Lemon Ginger” Tea throughout the festival to stay warm and to keep her skin hydrated.

She reports, “I feel so much healthier drinking this when everyone else is downing vodka. I can’t wait for the hot, lemony taste, and I love, love, love the beautiful loose leaves!” Available at VillageTeaCo.com for 15.95 for about 40 servings.

Jared Harris, star of Mad Men, stopped by the Gibson Gifting Suite with his girlfriend and director Nathaniel Parker for a hot cup of Gentle Organic Lemon Ginger Tea. Jared and his girlfriend are huge fans of the Royal English Breakfast blend as well – go figure… they’re British!

I pretty much love anything that comes in a time capsule, or encapsulated because it keeps air off the product longer until the ultimate moment when you are actually using it.
Very few makeup companies have embraced this formula and it’s too bad because foundation could be better preserved in individual doses.

So, that’s one of the reasons I am a fan of AminoGenesis Tripeptinon “face lift in a capsule”! Which it is also the winner of the 2006 Editors Choice from Day Spa magazine.

Here’s some notes from the website: if you read anything at all, read the last line where you can try it free for 30 days!
***
Tripeptinon is an incredible new technology actually designed to lift, firm and strengthen facial connective tissues giving your skin the most youthful appearance possible. While many skin care products try and address the surface issues of the skin, the support and connective tissues have been totally neglected by these other products. Tripeptinon combines three powerful anti-aging, anti-wrinkle, anti-sagging technologies in each single application capsule!

1) Ceramide 2: The connective tissue of your skin can be damaged by the sun, wind and other environmental factors. Once this occurs the skin begins to sag, wrinkle and may look prematurely aged. This wonder nutrient penetrates rapidly to bolster and strengthen crucial skin connective tissues to improve the appearance of sagging, discoloration, dryness, and other signs of aging.

2) Ubiquinone: The most powerful antioxidant in the world. Its ability to help improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of aging are legendary!

3) Amino-acid Ogliopetides: Clinical trials revealed this amino acid complex actually triggers the skins own collagen making and repair mechanism to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, often caused by sun damage.

Tripeptinon comes in a 40 day treatment cycle. Each capsule breaks open easily and contains the recommended amount for best results. Apply once a day to your face and neck at bedtime and wake up to younger, more radiant looking skin… Guaranteed! Try It For 30 Days On Us!

As Seen on TV: Strap Perfect; ha!

You and I have both seen the commercial on tv for the Strap Perfect concealer clip: the ultimate bra strap solution.
Yeah, if your a masochist.
It’s in Walmart, Target and the local Fry’s Marketplace; which is where I got mine on sale with a coupon. Still, I want my money back. ( can’t find my receipt! darn it!)
It comes in three colors and the only value to this debacle is that it comes with a nice set of wardrobe tape. Which you can buy in the sewing section at JoAnn’s, Target or Walmart. You use the tape, which is double sided to close the puckering gap between buttons on your button up shirts or anywere else you need to close fabric while wearing it.
Oy, where do I start with this bra strap solution thing? And just so you know, I’m not the only one who tried it and found it awkward, uncomfortable, and by far not delivering on the promise it makes in the commercial. (oy! It’s like the Bare Escentuals mineral makeup of lingerie)
So in short, after all this kvetching, what I can say is: unless your bra has a single strap of elastic, most, especially if you regularly shop at Victoria Secrets, have a fabric front and elastic back to the strap. Meaning there is not alot of room to pull the straps to the center of your back.
That is unless they are completely made of elastic. Skip this one ladies and put the ten bucks towards a good racer back style bra for tank tops or invest in a really good strapless bra.

Keratin Hair Treatments — Are They Right for You?

If you have curly hair, these treatments might be your new best friend

Wondering if treatments like the Brazilian Blowout are the best way to smooth out your hair? To make your decision easier, see answers to your burning questions and get honest feedback on some of the big-name treatments here.

See facts

You know, whenever I am out doing makeup I get asked alot, especially from asian women about lightening dark spots. Some from the sun, some from age, some just plain ‘ol freckles.
Your best and fastest most effective bet, oh and also most expensive is to have them lasered off by a professional dermatologist.
Though, if that isn’t in your budget, I bet the La Roche-Posay Mela-D serum might be?
It contains Kojic Acid + LHA, Glycolic acid and is actually hydroquinone free.
What? Hydroquinone free? That’s the tradtional ingredient in products like Porcelana that help fade brown spots.
So there is a new product with fresh skin care technology on the market for you to try.
I have a brown spot (is that age or sun?) on my right cheek bone. I put some Mela-D on it and then forgot to do it again for five days because I was working the Barrett Jackson car auction. Hmmm, that’s not fair to the product because it needs a steady and timely application. Consistency in application is the key to having the product work; so my one and done didn’t work.
I’m applied the Mela-D sample today, and will continue for the next 30 to see what happens to my right cheek brown spot.
In the meantime, visit http://www.laroche-posay.com for more information to satisfy your curious mind!

Effaclar AI: La Roche-Posay’s answer to blemishes!

Best and Worst Acne Fighters

See which products actually kicked acne in the butt, er, face

It’s a universal agreement: grown-ups shouldn’t have to deal with acne! And since grown-ups get to do whatever they want, check out this list of products that are proven to clear up skin!

See products

Well all of us at one time or another get a pimple and need to keep something in the beauty drawer for just such occassions.
I’ve tried the sample of Effaclar AI from La Roche-Posay which is an intensive acne spot treatment to help control and correct breakouts plus helps prevent residual skin marking.
So that is what is setting this product aside from a traditional benzoyl peroxide acne medication. The Stidex pads of old have the similiar ingredient to help control breakouts, BUT Effaclar AI has a micro-exfoliating ingredient LHA to help minimize the brown red scarring usually accompanied by a pimple.

That blotchy mark is calling card of the pimple and not appreciated at all!

If you do have a pimple, remember not to pick it. Simple steam your skin til it is soft, using a warm wash cloth, apply pressure to the top side of the pimple and gently wipe/press downward so the sebum will be pressed out on the underside of the pimple and leave a flap of skin to help heal the rupturing point.

Or, even better: visit your dermatologist for a professional extraction.

I’m apologize for a wrong website address for ProFoot Care!
http://www.profootcare.com/
That’s the correct address and where to go to find out more about good tootsy treatments.
I love the blue squishy gel toe spreaders and use them daily. Especially after standing in the freezing wind and rain at the Barrett Jackson car auction this past week.
It’s the pump pouches that have me puzzled. Perhaps I have meatballs for toes? I wore them in my work sneakers and work boots ( these are a low 2″ heel with a calf length shaft) and always felt a toe numbness while wearing them.
The first time I wore them over my thinsulate socks and it was too tight. The second time I wore them over my stockings; the opaque kind and still it felt too tight and wouldn’t fit into my boots comfortably.
So, either these need to be worn on bare toes in a round toe pump or I’ve just got sausages at the end of my feet.
Either way, suggest try it for yourself. Good foot care alleviates alot of back pain and for the low price and coupon, you may as well give it a try! Enjoy!

The Socializer AM/PM: Elizabeth Grant does it again!

Step-by-Step Guide to Gorgeous Model Hair

Wish you had commercial-worthy hair? It’s possible with these secrets

Bye-bye, breakage; see ya, flyaway strands; so long, dull and lackluster hair. Here are 12 fabulous, fresh and easy-to-follow tips for getting and maintaining healthy, soft, shiny and strong hair.

See secrets

I’m a big fan of the Elizabeth Grant eye patches that come in individually wrapped packages. The Biocollasis complex, Collagen Firming and Vitamin C patches kept me looking fresh and rested through the intense weather while working the Barrett Jackson car auction in Scottsdale.
Phew! Now the new item from Elizabeth Grant is part makeup party skin care: The Socializer comes as a two part pen system. One is for the morning beauty routine and one for the evening.

This will appear similiar to YSL and Dior’s eye brightening pens, heck, even Avon makes a good pen type eye luminizer product. Though what’s different about the Socializer is that it is geared towards eye skin protection and treatment with a beauty bonus to it.

I’ve been using my sample for several days now and love it!

To use, simply click the button on the bottom of the eye pen til you see a dollop of product come out of the brush. Then using the brush apply under the eye in a sweeping motion and use your ring finger to gently pat the product in.

I’ve used it alone, under and over my foundation. Plus, I put it on my eye lids to see if they would puff up and swell. Nope. No side effects. Just lovely luminous skin.

Try some! Learn more at http://www.elizabethgrant.com

p.s. to keep the brush clean, I run it, bristles pointing down under hot water and wipe with a towel, snap the cap back on and store with bristles down. :)

J/A/S/O/N products are not the hippie health food store products you may remember. (Or maybe not?)
I’ve been testing for the past little bit the new line that they have for anti-aging and antioxidant products.
The new hydrating night creme is soft, supple, has good slip and texture with a very light scent which is not an added perfume it’s actually the natural scent of the ingredients.
With confidence I can recommend the Red elements line for you to try if you like products that are paraben free, pthalate free and petroleum free.
The line is really for all skin types, and those with sensitive skin could use it.

A little bit goes along way! Remember to use a scoop in it so you don’t contaminate the jar when you get some for use. Try a qtip to pull out a small bit to massage into your face and neck.
