 Luxe vs. Less Skin Care
|

Find out what products to splurge on and when to save your hard-earned dollars
|
|
You don’t have to spend half your paycheck on skincare products to stay wrinkle and pimple-free. Dermatologist Dr. Ava Shamban and P&G scientist Mary Begovic Johnson helped us compare products with similar ingredients that are very different in cost to see which are really worth the price. Here’s what we found.

Enjoy the beauty bubble today and just know that on this end, I’m conducting my own “scientific experiement”. I and several others are doing the “left pit test” of the Secret Clinical anti-perspirant.
Normally, I would only wear deoderant on a day that I was going to be among other people because I don’t want alot of synthetic chemicals layered in the area next to my lymph nodes.
But, with all the travel, different climates, hectic and stress schedules: I have decided to try this. On me, it seems like nothing works or it works for a week and quits. So…I have several people trying it on the left arm pit for the next few days and their regular brand ( to be named later) on the right pit.
Good luck and may the sweat of a camel stench be stopped by a clinical brand of anti-perspirant.

Ah, the hair color. Whether you do it for fun, necessity or to cover the grey: there is an age old struggle between the salon and at home.
I love going to the salon and there was a time that I had the most amazing, long, healthy, tri-color weaved hair of platinum blonde, gold blonde and brown. Oh! It was gorgeous. Perhaps a bit too Samson’ish? Because one time, when at the same salon, with the same stylist, it went anything but the same. It was awful.
It has taken two full years, of only using semi permanent color in a dark brown to mask the damage to get my hair back to healthy.
What the stylist did at the salon was so bad, that it broke the hair near the root. The rest of it had blown cuticle and burns all over it and felt like mush, or over cooked spaghetti that’s been left in a dirty sink full of used dish water.
Finally, two months ago, I bobbed my hair short ( for the third time in my life..short hair, does that say anything to you!) and my son says I look like Dora the Explorer.
Unless I”m in humid weather and then I look like a cross between the Saturday Night Live character played by Gilda Radner ” Roseanna Roseanna Danna” and Dora the Explorer.
If you color your hair at home and like a box, I prefer Feria by L’Oreal even though they don’t make a good dark brown, they do make a good blonde and black. I’ve tried some Clairol brands and enjoyed them. But now, I prefer to venture into Sally’s beauty supply and just pick up some Ion 3N, and mix with a 10 volume developer and let it sit a bit to cover the grey I deny I have.
Enjoy the beauty bubble and let me know how your home or salon color works out!

Oy! I was just talking with some friends about this very subject:
When do you start to use anti-aging products?
When do you specifically start to use serums?
Does age or necessity prevail in the quest to use or buy or commit to an anti-aging regime? Cause let’s face it: it’s a commitment financially and in your time twice a day!
Finally, when do you go the next step and move from over the counter and department or drugstore brands into…the doctor’s office?
Well, the Bible says that “pride goes before a fall”…
Enjoy the beauty bubble and sound off as you need to!

Okay, summer is a time of transition and always flexible with what works and what doesn’t is easily forgivable!
I feel that Fall and Winter are prim and proper times of the year where hair and makuep should be “in place” and exact. Matte and polished at the same time! Though when it comes to summer hair and makeup: I think that bronzey, messy, been playin hard no time for clean up, just some gloss and go looks are perfect.
This is my opinion…enjoy the daily beauty bubble and I’ll definately send some more info as it comes in.
Plus! I promised product giveaways and the goods are comin’ in to me and goin’ out to you!
Wait til you see the set I”ve got for Father’s Day to give away! You Dads’ are going to love it!

Enjoy! I know that in the summer months, with makeup melting off more than staying in place, adding to your stock can be a cost challenge!
But wait! Check out today’s beauty bubble for reader tried and true test results of what works and what doesn’t.
In my personal opinion: a stain is always a worth investment and Lorac Sheer Wash is a favorite as well as Benefit Cosmetics’ Benetint!
I swear by bronzer and my all time favorite is AVEDA cool stick ( very hard to find) in “cool mint”. This AVEDA cosmetic product much like Neutrogena Cool Mist sunscreen actually goes on the skin with a cold feeling. It lasts for a bit, but when your skin is hot, it feels great!
If I had to buy any product for the summer, I would spend my money on mascara. Like the L’Oreal dual ended (red and white) lash building mascara. It actually puts a “sock” on your eyelash and then you color over it. Super long fat lashes in an instant!
I’m going to be reviewing a new lash builder and stay tuned for the reader giveaway!
Enjoy your discount makeup goodies and stay tuned for more from the road!
P.S. speaking of the road: in all my traveling, literally every few days a few hundred miles, here is what I do for my daily makeup and cleansing.
1. I use the Kirkland Signature daily facial cleansing cloths because they work excellent and are very affordable at 150 total for $11.36!
2. Tinted moisturizer that I make myself between a pump of Arbonne RE9 anti-aging day lotion and About Face Line Defiance liquid foundation. I pump one of each, mix in my palms and smear it on.
3. A wide swipe of the AVEDA cool stick bronzer over my cheeks, chin, forhead and lips.
4. Mascara…as much as I can get on in the wee amount of time I have.
5. If time allows…I draw on my brows and line my lips.
Ready set go!

Look, I don’t have oily skin, though in the summer, it’s a good idea to switch to a cleanser or add a toner that is made for oily skin because it helps cut through the amount of sweat which holds onto dust and sunscreen that clogs the skin.

Wee! Okay, the funny thing about this beauty bubble is that normally in Arizona, I would have plenty to talk about when it comes to suntanning, suncare and sun period.
Though as of late, as I have been traveling alot between Nevada, California and Arizona: there has barely b een any sun! Let alone any heat!
Mind you, I am not complaining, but I am definately surprised by the weather as of late! Phew!
Its a nice change from the usual scorching, searing heat that is the Phoenix area in the summer.
Enjoy the daily beauty bubble and get ready for some giveaways coming your way soon!

In case you have never heard the story or history behind why June is the number one wedding month of the year; it’s because that’s when typically the weather was warm enough and most people took a bath at this time of year.
Now we shower everyday, sometimes twice on a day well over 100 d egrees in Arizona. Then back in the early 1800′s coming by a bathtub, warm water and soap was a luxury.
So, weddings and the wedding night were planned around the time that the couple being married would be the cleanest and best smelling.
